LOOKING FORWARD TO 2010

My husband and I are getting all geared up for the new year. We have several projects that we are going to tackle this year. He has been home a couple of days and getting ancy so he has started on what we will call our Library.......................................Lord knows we need it, or should I say I need it. Yes I have to admit I am a book junkie.....I just love them, old, new, and all in between. I am also a magazine JUNKIE...I have my favorite ones that I look forward to getting all the time. I go to Borders Books and spend my usual amount. Lord knows my job provides for my excessive hobbies (Gardening, I buy plants 3 at a time, Quilting, I am in love with Fig Tree Quilts fabric, and a new fabric line is comming out all the time, Junking, well do I need to say anything about that........the thrill of the hunt). So what ever is in store for you in the new year to come I wish you all well and a happiest of Holiday. xp Mary (JMPPASTIMES)

Happy Christmas Eve

I can not take credit for this photo, it is from the blogs that I have been scanning in the Netherlands. I have become a fan of there blogs in the past few weeks. I AM A NATURE FREAK, along with a lot of other passions, but just the fact that something as simple as a candle, a jar and candy canes resting on some branches makes for a simple and happy display. I have always thought there is little cost to making a home charming and the simple things are what do it for me. May your Christmas Eve be as charming as this photo. Here is one of my favorite doors that my husband brought home to me, can you believe someone discarded this item. We love how cracked it is. I placed a large clock on the top of the door and my husband put a shelf on it so I could place some books and one of my favorite gifts from nature, the bird nest that I have placed in my crystal pie plate. This door is so heavy that it does not need any bracing it rests against the wall just fine.

VINTAGE WHITE WEDNESDAY

Cake plates are not just for cakes anymore. I have this one in my sewing room. I love to use it as a display with a glass globe, I find it makes a interesting look.facebook

Roses are nice to have anytime of year

I did not want the regular Christmas plant so my husband got me pink roses. Roses and the color pink are just about the best combination I think.

vintage wrapping

facebook

I just wanted to share a photo of a gift given to me by a dear friend. As you can see it was wrapped in this cute vintage wrapping paper, she then used a vintage dollie and vintage ornaments, the colors are just out of this world. Who would of thought orange and pink would look good.

Goodevening to all in blogland, hope you are all tucked in and warm. The northwest today was rainy and a balmy 50's degrees.......Here is one of my favorite vintage toys. I used my toy wheel barrow and placed a primitive santa and a sign that says  WISH IT-DREAM IT-DO IT.... This has been a very popular statement made to me this year......for those of us in blog land that have a need to create we can all releate to this saying...........so with that saying, my new blog friend Laura (52 FLEA) is giving a 300th blog give away. Please take time and go to her lovely blog and see the items that she will give, also see the creative side of her talents and all her lovely treasures. xo Mary JMPPASTIMES

Here is one of my vintage laundry soap boxes. I have several that decorate my laundry room. I have been collecting them for over 30 years and this one just caught my attention while decorating for the season. I just may put some huckleberries in the box for a finishing touch for the holidays.

PIN KEEP

Here is a pin keep that I made. I made some to sell on Ebay and our JMPPASTIME SHOP. I added a special strand of vintage buttons to this pin-keep, for a added bonus. I liked how it could be tucked on the limb of my christmans tree. .

BRINGING OUT THE COLLECTABLES

I love to take my vintage dishes and mix with my other collectables. This time of year allows us to be more creative and have our collectables out to be admired. I have been collecting cast off vintage dishes for 30 years, I use them as eveyday dishes. Being a quilter I find mixing patterns and colors more of a visual effect. I placed some of my white vintage buttons in the depression glass creamer to show a bit of texture..

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE

Santa came early in our home, this is one of our  newest  treasures. This small brass bed, looks like it could of been a sales man sample, it folds up like a brief case so it could be carried very easy. I fell in love with it when I saw it on ETSY.

WINTER CHILL ON MY PURPLE FOUNTAIN GRASS

Here is our tub that I use for my plants. I left the purple fountian grass in the pots. The winter takes it's toll on these plants here in Washington, it's too bad, it is one of my favorite grasses. We just purchased the rusty crown item that you see, we think it was a top from a old wood stove............

I hope all are keeping warm. As I sit here by the fire keeping it going and staying warm I think of how everyone is trying to get there lists in order for Christmas. This is the first year my husband and I are going to treat Christmas as a special day in our heart and not the commercial way, We both feel so blessed that we wanted to enjoy all the beauty of Christmas and not the stress it has brang on before. Dont get me wrong our children will enjoy it but not the same expese as usual, they are all grown and I am sure in there minds they are looking on how they want to spend the holidays with there families. I leave you with some new photo's on decorateing ideas. Thanks for stopping by and come again.
